Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Tallyscope. Please read them, especially the sections on accuracy, billing and liability.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Tallyscope ("the service") is operated by Tallyscope ("we", "us"). By using the service you agree to these terms. If you use it for a business, you confirm you can bind that business. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

Tallyscope is a web application that reads bank statements and similar documents that you provide, converts them into a table, checks each statement against its own running balance, shows combined totals, answers questions about the table and exports the data. Statement files are processed in your browser. Features differ by plan, as described on the pricing page. We may improve, change or retire features; we will not remove a feature you have paid for during the period you have paid for without a fair remedy.

3. No financial, tax or legal advice

The service provides information tools only. Nothing it displays, including totals, categories, insights, comparisons and assistant answers, is financial, accounting, tax, lending or legal advice. Consult a qualified professional for decisions that matter.

4. Accuracy and verification

Conversion of documents is imperfect, particularly for scans and unusual layouts. The verification status (Verified, Partly verified, Needs review, Unverified) is arithmetic evidence that extracted amounts agree with balances printed on the document. It is not an audit, not a certification, and not proof that a document is genuine or complete. It does not verify dates or descriptions. Currency conversions use public reference rates that may differ from rates you were charged. AI-written answers, including in the Advanced AI features read mode, may be wrong. You are responsible for checking any output against the original documents before relying on it, particularly for tax filings, loan applications, legal matters and financial decisions.

5. Your content

You keep all rights in your documents and data. You confirm that you are entitled to process the documents you load, including any personal data of other people in them. We do not receive your statement files through the converter. If you use the Advanced AI features, you authorise us to send the relevant text to the providers described in the privacy policy to produce your answer.

6. Accounts

You may need an account for paid plans. Keep your credentials confidential and tell us promptly of unauthorised use. You can delete your account in the app at any time.

7. Plans, billing, renewal and cancellation

8. Acceptable use

You will not: use the service for unlawful purposes; process documents you have no right to process; attempt to disrupt, overload, probe or bypass the security, rate limits or plan limits of the service or its API; reverse engineer the service except where the law allows; resell access; use the assistant to generate harmful content; or use the service to create or alter documents in order to deceive anyone. We may suspend access for breaches.

9. Intellectual property

The service, its software, design, text and trademarks belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your own purposes under these terms. Open-source components are used under their licences.

10. Availability

We aim for reliable service but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. The service depends on third parties, such as hosting, authentication, payment, exchange-rate and AI providers, whose availability we do not control. The assistant's AI features rely on free-tier providers with usage limits and may be unavailable.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law we exclude all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of output. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or loss arising from your reliance on the output, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event and EUR 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or, for consumers, your mandatory statutory rights.

12. Consumers

If you are a consumer, you keep the rights the law of your country gives you, including legal guarantees for digital content and services and, in the EU, the right of withdrawal described in the refund policy. Nothing here reduces those rights.

13. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or end your access for material breach of these terms, after notice where reasonable. Sections that by nature should survive, including disclaimers, liability limits and governing law, survive termination.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will give notice in the app or by email before it applies to you. Continued use after the change means you accept it; if you do not, you can cancel.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws applicable where you are a consumer, without limiting your mandatory consumer rights. If a dispute arises, please contact us first at support@tallyscope.app so we can try to resolve it amicably. EU consumers can also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform where available.
